Halal Food:
Halal food is available in a few places around Peterborough:
Nofrills: A grocery store located at 230 George St. It has a Halal fresh meat section which contains beef, chicken and lamb. Nofrills also has a section for frozen Halal items such as burgers, chicken nuggets...
Curry Village: An Indian restaurant located at 280 GEORGE ST N. Please note that not everything on their menu is Halal, so make sure you ask before you order.
Island Cream:A Caribbean Cuisine restaurant located at 229 Hunter St W. All their menu items are Halal.
Halal food at Trent University: bringing Halal food on-campus was one of the biggest achievements of TMSA for the year 2004-2005. Trent became one of the few universities in Canada to have halal food on-campus. Right now Halal food is available only at OC (Otonabee College) cafeteria. There should be a sign in OC Cafe showing the Halal items they have.
Price Chopper: A grocery store located at Lansdowne street W. (the downtown one doesn't sell halal meat). They have fresh beef, chicken, etc but the halal meat is in the same counter as the regular meat, so you have to look for the halal symbol on the packages.
